One of those summers days when everything seems to stop

The Route

This felt like a summer's day, the only thing that gave it away was the lack of any growth on trees. The walk also coincided with the Eyjafjallajokull volcano stopping air travel in the UK, and with only one small wisp of a cloud in the sky it was truly unbelievable.

We took a route around north of hergest ridge, before making a reasonably steep ascent to the summit (i'm always loathe to call something like that a summit, it's really just the highest point on the hill).

We then had a failed pub stop (it didn't open until the evening) so had our lunch on what was essentially a traffic island (although one where we didn't encounter any traffic). The walk back was halted for 30 minutes while we had a paddle in a river - I can thoroughly recommend it after a walk.
